Subject Leader Profile

Teacher
Hi! My name is Mrs Makba and I am the History subject leader at Roe Lee. I have been teaching for eight years and I am fascinated about the past and what we can learn from it.
I believe a passion for a subject can be infectious and I strive to create an environment where children are confident in questioning, analysing and evaluating sources of information to further their own understanding of the past.
It is important to bring history alive for the children so they can absorb what we teach them, learn from the past and shape a future for themselves.
History at Roe Lee
Our intention is for children to leave our school with a passion for history. Through our teaching, we aim to help children gain an understanding of our local history, Britain’s history and that of the wider world. From a young age, children will appreciate that learning about the past is important in shaping our future.
In order to achieve this, we need to fulfil the requirements of the National Curriculum for history; by providing an engaging, broad, balanced and differentiated curriculum that inspires children’s curiosity, encourages them to ask critical questions and gives them the confidence to evaluate evidence and sources to form their own opinions.
At Roe Lee, we strive to provide a high quality history curriculum where children have a fascination about the past, a thirst for knowledge and an ambition to be historians!
