Pupil Wellbeing

Mrs Campbell is our PE subject lead.

She believes PE is a unique and vital contributor to our pupil’s overall development and wellbeing including their physical and mental health. Through PE and School Sport our children can learn to develop the important life skills of discipline, resilience, communication, team work and ambition. Most importantly she wants the children to have fun and enjoyment in all the many PE and sports opportunities we offer.

She is an expert in her field and recognised as such by the local authority. She is Chair and Treasurer of the Blackburn Primary School Sports Association (BPSSA) and plays a leading role in organising the association’s sports events and competitions within the borough. She was awarded a National Recognition Award at the Youth Sport Trust’s 2012 Conference, for achievements and commitment to high quality PE, through the use of Matalan TOP Sport.

Outside of school her love of sport is channelled into ferrying her two sports mad boys to their various activities and supporting them from the side lines.

Physical Education at Roe Lee

Our PE curriculum is broad and balanced with opportunities for all our pupils to develop fundamental physical skills and competencies. It allows our pupils to learn about themselves, the importance of a healthy lifestyle, self-expression and concepts such as fair play and respect. It also contributes to the development of a range of important cognitive skills such as decision making and analysis, and social skills such as teamwork and communication.

Being part of the School Games programme inspires our children to be physically active for life through positive daily activity and competition which we offer both in and beyond the curriculum. We continue to develop our links to outside agencies and clubs which help to generate positive interaction within the community.
